did you ever think i would be writing a blog post promoting pastels? probably not! but in the last decade i have learned to NEVER use the word ‘never’ when it comes to fashion & interiors. as we are in the midst of an 80’s & 90’s fashion redux, we knew pastels would be making a designer comeback. for those of us who lived it once already, we agree that a lot of it is really pretty awful… but when it’s a good modern re-interpretation, we’re actually kind-of loving it!!
not your mother’s pastels…
looking to northern europe for inspiration, the design savvy in denmark are all over this trend. with a simple and serene scandinavian backdrop of blonde wood & white, subtle hints of soft colour play with elements of black & grey. it’s soft and feminine and an obvious choice for a nursery or a gal’s bedroom, but how about relaxing by a watery blue fireplace on a blush pink sheepskin rug? i hope you’ll agree that these inspirational vignettes found on the pages of pinterest are a far cry from your mother’s mint green & peach bathroom… where you spent hours primping your spiral perm!
