the rolston suite H1

mango design co was thrilled to furnish two display suites at rize properties’ rolston condos. years ago, mango was on the original rolston design team with cause+affect. the building was to appeal to the cultural creatives of the city… i wanted to be sure that the furnishing of the suites captured this original design intent.

just as the rolston’s finishing schemes were to appeal to varying tastes, so too should the furnishing of the suites. i’m a big fan of the eclectic, the understated and the whimsical, of mixing modern and vintage for a look that doesn’t feel overly ‘designed’… kind of like the granville street neighbourhood it inhabits.

this retro-modern, family-friendly suite features eye-popping colours like lemon yellow, tangerine and steel blue that brighten up the airy two-bedroom, two-bathroom plus den apartment. i was inspired by modern canadiana, embracing nature and local artisans. style garage is the go-to place for this aesthetic, where we found the gus modern bi-sectional sofa and whimsical prairie table, shaped like the prairie province.

retro wallpapers and vintage decorative pieces helped shape the design. the flyer poster, record player, hassock and rotary phone are from attic treasures on commercial drive. the graphic printed records were from an artisan fair in east vancouver… my daughter wants to take most of this suite home!!
